Having existed for almost 1.5 centuries, diesels seem to be close to "extinction". Naturally, because the more modern, more diesel cars abandoned because people prefer eco-friendly cars like hybrid or electric cars.
Swedish automotive manufacturer, Volvo also agrees this. They say that Volvo will not develop diesel engines again because of the increasingly tight emission limit rules in Europe. Currently, the average carbon dioxide emissions limits applied by manufacturers in the EU range between 130 grams per kilometer. But by 2021, that number will be further reduced to 95 grams per kilometer.
After stopping the production of diesel engines, Volvo was ready to shift focus to develop electric and hybrid cars. They sure can compete with Tesla who is currently a major player in the electric car industry by improving the quality and design of the car more attractive.
